Keywords are for humans not search engines

It seems keywords are making the top of SEO list time and time again. The problem is that some optimizers do not understand the rightful purpose of keywords. Keywords should not be solely embedded for the purpose of reaching the top of search engines. Search Engine Optimization should not be the primary focus of any website. The primary and number 1 focus should always be the visitors. If you create a website for your audience and for your visitors then you should rank fairly. I can't see why any legitimate website can not rank properly within search engines, after time and dedication. Search Engine Optimization main purpose is ranking faster within search engines. Instead of gaining a good balance of traffic within 1 or more years, it is possible to gain a good balance of traffic within 6-9 months with SEO. Keywords play a major factor in SEO and search engines in general, but the question is are keywords for the search engines or the visitors? The visitors are the ones who ar...

10 Ways to Tackle Keyword Research and Selection

You need to be extremely careful with keyword research so that you don't miss excellent opportunities or aim so broadly that you target phrases that will never rank well. Here are 10 strategies to guide you along the way: 1. Know your potential customers. We can't tell you how many businesses we've met who simply pick keywords out of thin air. They don't talk to customers or hot prospects in order to determine what might be a useful set of keywords. 2. Start with core words. A core set of keywords - even if too broad - can stimulate creative thinking. 3. Look at the industry. Examine industry trade group web sites and related newsletters to find potential keywords. 4. Study competitors. Some companies make a bigger deal of competitors' keywords than they should, but it's still a useful strategy. Invariably, a competitor will be using a strong keyword or phrase you don't want to miss. Often, however, they load their web sites with single keywords that aren...

Are You Targeting The Wrong Keywords?

A colleague asked me recently to name the most critical element of any search engine optimization campaign . I didnt hesitate to respond " keyword selection ". Like it or not, the keywords and phrases you select to describe your site within your META tags and body text can make or break your listings in the search engines. Its a sad fact that most companies are targeting the wrong keywords and losing traffic as a result. Even sites that have excellent rankings will not benefit if those rankings are for unsuitable keywords. Let me give you an example: A few months ago, we had an Australian client who wanted us to implement an optimization campaign to improve their search engine rankings, but without jeopardising existing rankings they had achieved for two particular search phrases: "Internet solutions Australia" and "online banking solutions". Can you guess what products and services this company sells? The search phrases dont really give much away do th...

Choosing Keywords: What They Don't Tell You

Website Design What They Don't Tell You Let me start off by saying that I am no web design expert but I have designed a few websites and the biggest challenge I found was choosing keywords . It seems like it would be easy but it is not. Choosing keywords and keyword placement is the foundation of getting indexed properly in search engines , choosing the correct ones and placing them on your web page is not an easy task. First off your keywords or key phrases have to make sense so that a person visiting your website can understand what you are saying. All well and good, we can all do that. The problem comes when a machine is sent to look at your page all of the sudden it no longer looks the same. Take this page for example http://www.globalwebmonitor.com, after reading this page you would know the following things about this company: Global Web Monitor sells business services.
