Mother's Day Search Keyword Bids Surge: Advertisers Ante Up for Flowers Keywords
San Francisco, May 12, 2006. Retailers looking to capture consumer purchases online for dear Mom bid anywhere from $0.25 to $3.50 per click for keywords this week, according to search engine marketer Fathom Online. Clearly, florists anticipated a big return on investment from online searchers as keyword prices escalated in the run up to Mothers Day. Online flower rose 67 percent since the end of the first quarter of 2006; keyword flower increased 29 percent and free greeting card 18 percent. The tracking by the Fathom Online Keyword Price Index found there were some bargains for astute advertisers who rely on keywords to attract sales.
